The OSM Shooting Club
Based in the Old Sergeants' Mess at Bisley, the OSM Shooting Club is a busy and thriving club open to members of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
Whether you are a game hunter looking for range time to zero rifles, a military service rifle enthusiast keeping old skills alive or an accuracy-craving precision target shooter hitting the V Bull at 1000 yards, we have the facilities and knowledge base to support you in your interest.
At the OSM we welcome new members of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
If you've never shot before and want to learn, the OSM has everything you need to start and gain skills & experience.
The OSM is an active and multi-discipline club, with shoots every week at various distances. Whether you enjoy the social aspect of a busy club shoot or a quiet session on the range, you can use the shoots to zero rifles, practice your skills or just have fun, it is up to you.
The Clubhouse
The Old Sergeants' Mess itself is a beautiful colonial building from the late 19th Century.
With a licensed bar, cosy fireplace and open veranda, the OSM is ideal for warming up in winter or chilling out in summer. We serve hot food and snacks on shoot days and at other times by request. We hold regular curry nights on Fridays and our summer barbeques have a great reputation. The clubhouse is also available to hire for courses, meetings, parties and functions.
History
Built for the Army at the end of the 19th Century and functioning, the building served as the Sergeants' Mess for Bisley camp, hence the name it is known by today.
After a period of being virtually derelict, the Kensington Rifle and Pistol Club took over and began a process of refurbishment which included new oak flooring and panelling, complete redecoration, renovation of the Veranda. The final effect gives the impression of a scene out of a turn of the century film about India or Africa. A viewed shared by the BBC when they used the club as a set for filming a Julian Fellows murder mystery about Lord Erroll in Africa.
Known for a few years as the Hunter's Lodge it was home to the Hunter's Lodge Rifle Club which was later incorporated into the OSM when founded in 2008. Since then the clubhouse has been redecorated and fitted with a modernised bar, and updated kitchen facilities.
This process will continue as the club develops.
